Dr. Matthew Wester

Au.D., Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Wester obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Sonoma State University in 1993 and his Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Memphis in 2006 with additional academic training at California State University, Chico.

As a practicing clinical audiologist in Arizona for more than 20 years, Dr. Wester has extensive experience in many different areas of Audiology, including diagnostic testing, balance assessment, hearing conservation, and hearing rehabilitative services, including hearing aid dispensing for treatment of hearing loss. Dr. Wester strives to provide high-quality patient-centered care using a holistic and practical approach. His treatment recommendations are always based upon research showing the positive impact that treating hearing loss has on speech understanding, cognitive health, social engagement, and overall quality of life.

Prior to joining Ascent Audiology and Hearing, Dr. Wester practiced at Mayo Clinic Arizona for 16 years, specializing in vestibular and balance assessment, diagnostic audiology, and hearing loss and tinnitus rehabilitation. He also holds a Certification of Clinical Competence-Audiology (CCC-A) and an Arizona license as a Dispensing Audiologist.

He holds the Academic Rank of Instructor of Audiology. He has been an invited guest lecturer at many national seminars and educational training courses. Dr. Wester is happy to now be serving the communities of Sun City as a part of the established, proven team of excellence that is Ascent Audiology!

I am very impressed with Ascent Audiology. I called to make an appointment to address a problem with my hearing aids. They called to see if we could address the issue over the phone. We solved most of the issue but when we couldn’t get it completely fixed they gave me the manufacturer’s number to see they could fix the issue without me having to come to the office. They are very professional and helpful.

Brian and Suzy are always prompt, professional, thorough and have great personalities. Ashley at the front desk is also top notch. Would not hesitate to recommend this practice.

I took my dad for a hearing test at this office, the front desk lady is very nice and welcoming, the office is clean and well decorated. Doctor Baber and his medical assistant Suzie, were very nice and polite, they made us feel welcome too. They were very patience with my dad and explain to us accordantly. Also doctor Baber, clean up my dad's ears with delicacy and patience. After that I made an appointment to clean up my ears too, and believe it or not but we all need to do that at certain point in our lives. I highly recommend this office to all of you, even if you don't need hearing aids yet.

I love the staff here! They are the most welcoming and knowledgeable people you can find. I can't imagine going anywhere else. I've been a patient of theirs since last year and my experience is always top notch. I very highly recommend them.
