“Are hearing aids covered by my insurance?” is a common question our team receives here at Ascent Audiology. After all, hearing aids are an investment, and financing them can be a challenge for many patients.
And when it comes to health insurance, things aren’t always straightforward. Each insurance provider offers different plans with various rules, deductions, and coverage limitations. Navigating the details of your insurance plan can be confusing and time-consuming. This is exactly why we have an insurance specialist on staff to help you navigate the fine print. Hearing aids can truly transform lives, and we want to make sure no one is left out because of the associated costs.
Aetna Coverage for Hearing Health in Arizona
Many hearing loss patients are within the age range for Medicare eligibility. Aetna’s Medicare Advantage plans are available across the United States. Many plans include coverage for hearing-related services like annual hearing evaluations and hearing aid fittings. Some plans may also include additional coverage for hearing aid purchases.
Medicare Advantage (HMO and HMO-POS)
Both plans include the HMO option, which means you have the freedom to select your preferred healthcare provider within the network. Remember that if you choose a provider outside the network, benefits and coverage will be limited.
Aetna’s HMO and HMO-POS plans are more flexible when it comes to choosing providers outside of the network—some may even let you skip the referral.
Both HMO-type plans offer different levels of coverage for hearing care.
Medicare Advantage (PPO)
The Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan does not require you to choose a care provider within the preferred care provider network. Coverage for hearing care is available in varying degrees from the Advantage Medicare supplement.
Medicare Advantage Dual Special Needs (DSNP)
Aetna’s Medicare Advantage Dual Special Needs plans allow you to combine your medical benefits and prescription drug benefits into one plan.
To be eligible for this plan, you must meet specific low-income criteria. This plan also provides varying levels of hearing care coverage.

For people on Medicaid, Aetna manages different plans in each state. Coverage for hearing care expenses will depend on the plan.
Aetna Discounts
Discount offers are available on certain offers that are not part of a plan. Be aware that these could be discontinued at any time.
