Staff was very helpful and kind. Bryan and Susie answered all my questions and gave me good advice. I was so happy to find them and would recommend them for everyone.

I am very impressed with Ascent Audiology. I called to make an appointment to address a problem with my hearing aids. They called to see if we could address the issue over the phone. We solved most of the issue but when we couldn’t get it completely fixed they gave me the manufacturer’s number to see they could fix the issue without me having to come to the office. They are very professional and helpful.

Brian and Suzy are always prompt, professional, thorough and have great personalities. Ashley at the front desk is also top notch. Would not hesitate to recommend this practice.

I took my dad for a hearing test at this office, the front desk lady is very nice and welcoming, the office is clean and well decorated. Doctor Baber and his medical assistant Suzie, were very nice and polite, they made us feel welcome too. They were very patience with my dad and explain to us accordantly. Also doctor Baber, clean up my dad's ears with delicacy and patience. After that I made an appointment to clean up my ears too, and believe it or not but we all need to do that at certain point in our lives. I highly recommend this office to all of you, even if you don't need hearing aids yet.

I love the staff here! They are the most welcoming and knowledgeable people you can find. I can't imagine going anywhere else. I've been a patient of theirs since last year and my experience is always top notch. I very highly recommend them.

Common Patient Questions

Have more questions about Tinnitus?

Explore our FAQ section to find answers to common questions about our hearing services. Whether you’re looking to improve your hearing, maintain your hearing aids, or learn more about the solutions we offer, we want to help you make informed decisions about your hearing health.

Tinnitus can be caused by various factors, including exposure to loud noises, age-related hearing loss, earwax blockage, head or neck injuries, cardiovascular problems, medications, and stress. In some cases, the exact cause may be unknown.

In some cases, particularly if it's caused by a temporary condition like an ear infection or exposure to loud noise, tinnitus can go away on its own. However, for many people, tinnitus is a chronic condition that requires management.

Tinnitus is quite common, affecting about 15-20% of people. It's more prevalent in older adults, especially those with hearing loss, but it can affect people of all ages.

The primary symptom of tinnitus is the perception of sound when no external sound is present. This can manifest as ringing, buzzing, hissing, whistling, or other sounds. Some people may also experience difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, and anxiety due to tinnitus.

Several lifestyle factors can exacerbate tinnitus, including stress, lack of sleep, excessive caffeine or alcohol consumption, smoking, and exposure to loud noises. A diet high in salt can also worsen tinnitus in some people.

While tinnitus itself is not usually a sign of a serious condition, it can sometimes be a symptom of other health issues such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular problems, or acoustic neuroma. It's important to have your tinnitus evaluated by a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying conditions.

Treatment options for tinnitus include sound therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, tinnitus retraining therapy, hearing aids, and masking devices. Lifestyle modifications and stress management techniques can also be helpful. The best treatment approach often depends on the underlying cause and severity of the tinnitus.

There is no FDA-approved medication specifically for tinnitus. However, certain medications may be prescribed to manage associated conditions like anxiety or depression that can worsen tinnitus. In some cases, changing or stopping medications that may be causing or worsening tinnitus can help.

Hearing aids can be very effective for managing tinnitus, especially for people who also have hearing loss. They work by amplifying external sounds, which can help mask the tinnitus and make it less noticeable. Many modern hearing aids also have built-in tinnitus masking features for additional relief.
